Ponders End and Stratford
In the middle of April 1961 I managed an afternoon back on the Great Eastern mainlines at Ponders End and Stratford. It was very noticeable how shiny the diesels were compared to steam – not too surprising when you compared the new diesel shed at Stratford with the state of the steam sheds.
