Part Thirty Five
Knighton North Junction, Leicester, on 27 May 1963
The second location I found in Leicester was Knighton North Junction, a little way south of the Leicester London Road station, and close to the university – I could walk there after my lectures and practicals in a few minutes.
Over the two days in about eight hours by the lineside I took thirty three photographs, of which only three were diesels – the Midland Pullman and two Peaks. There would have been plenty more diesels that I didn’t photograph.
The thirty photographs of steam were of one pre-grouping engine, twenty LMSR engines and three BR Standards, made up of:

4 LMSR Jubilee 4-6-0s (with one photographed twice)
7 LMSR Black 5 4-6-0s (with one photographed twice)
2 LMSR Stanier 2-6-0s (the same loco photographed twice)
2 LMSR Ivatt 4 2-6-0s

7 LMSR 4F 0-6-0s (44013 four times!)
1 MR 4F 0-6-0
1 BR Standard 4 4-6-0
2 BR Standard 9F 2-10-0s
