Leicestershire and The Padarn Railway – March 1963

Burton and Leicester Central – May 1963

Once at university, I tried to put away ‘childish’ things, like trains. Not totally successful, although I don’t have many photographs to show from my time in Leicester.

 

The first two here are around Leicester itself, and the next two from a hitch hiking trip along the A6 to Kibworth. Then a few of the remains of the Padarn Railway engines at Gilfach Ddu while on a geology field trip to Snowdonia.

 

Towards the end of my first year at university I felt the need for that ‘lineside experience’ and searched for locations that would satisfy it. I found a few. The first was Leicester Central station, and I wish now I had returned there.
