MY LIFE IN TRAINS
Lineside and Station Sequences
Part Twenty Five
Rugby on 29 January 1961
New Barnet and Potters Bar on 11 March 1961
After our Devon holiday I was straight back into school, into the sixth form studying for four A Levels, with extra maths at school and extra geology night classes at the local South West Essex Technical College, Time for watching trains was limited, more limited because I now had a girlfriend and made frequent visits to White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoons.
In January I visited Crewe Works by train and took one photo from the train in Rugby. The few photos I took at Crewe Works are included in my Engine Portraits series.
Then in March I returned to my old haunts at New Barnet and Potters Bar for an afternoon and a morning. Judging by some of the long gaps between photos in this session, I suspect I was avoiding most of the diesel powered trains, and definitely missing out the DMU locals. I can’t find the notes I took at the time, just the transcribed notes of the photos I took.
