MY LIFE IN TRAINS
Lineside and Station Sequences
Part Twenty One
Newton Abbot -29 August 1960
Exeter – 30 August 1960
In the afternoon I used my Devon Rover ticket to take a train up the Teign Valley to Newton Abbot, the one shed I hadn’t managed to get a permit for. I spent an hour on the western end of the platform, mainly photographing engines in the shed yard, which was pretty busy. I wasn’t sure whether to include these in my Engine Portraits, but as I took the photos from the platform, I’ll include them here.
The next morning, I left my parents enjoying the delights of Teignmouth, and headed off to Exeter for an hour before lunch for some views from the platform. Rover tickets were great for spontaneous journeys.
Again, you may have seen some of these before.
