MY LIFE IN TRAINS
Lineside and Station Sequences
Part Twenty
St Pancras and Kings Cross – 4 August 1960
Teignmouth Sea Wall – 28 and 29 August 1960
There are no photographs in my albums from 25 May, when I bunked Stratford shed until these in August 1960. Just one shot each from St Pancras and Kings Cross, when I must have been off to do something exciting in London, long forgotten.
Then, at the end of August, off with my parents for a holiday in Teignmouth – well Teignmouth for them, and trekking by train around Devon for me armed with a load of shed permits: shed permits for a party of seven, I think, when there was only me. I started as I meant to go on with some shots on the sea wall at Teignmouth - what a difference in image quality the South Devon summer light produced.
If you have looked at My Story series, you will have seen some of these already.

I was just about one year old when you were taking these pictures, and living in Exeter. Later I remember seeing D810 Cockade after steam finished as we lived near the SR line to Salisbury and Waterloo. No. 3847 looks to have some ballast hoppers in the train, perhaps herring or catfish?
