MY LIFE IN TRAINS
Lineside and Station Sequences
Part Seven
Duck Lees Lane Crossing, Ponders End – 6 February 1960
My next trip, just over a month later, was much closer to home. Duck Lees Lane was about half a mile further out of London from Ponders End on the Great Eastern line to Hertford, Cambridge and beyond – an easy walk from the bus stop at Ponders End station, and with good vantage points in both directions.
My records show that the weather was bright and cloudy with occasional hazy sunlight, but this was a February afternoon and light fades fast on February afternoons! All of this group of photos are ‘atmospheric’ - misty, grainy, grimy, call it what you want. I quite like them.
In all I took thirteen photographs in just under two hours, with the longest gap just twenty five minutes.
